Zanaiya Léon has been the Coordinator for Leadership and Diversity & Inclusion at the University of New Haven since August 2019 where she works in the Myatt Center for Diversity and Inclusion and the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership, and Orientation (CSELO). In her work for CSELO, Zanaiya teaches a Beginners Understanding of Individual Leadership Development (BUILD) course, assists with curriculum oversight of BUILD, and oversees the Leadership Living and Learning Community. In her work for the Myatt Center, she supports the Director in the development and implementation of the Center’s programming and diversity training, serves on, or chairs, planning committees, and supervises the Diversity Peer Educator (DPE) program.
Before her work at the University of New Haven, she served as the Interim Development Coordinator for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra as well as their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She has also served on a racial justice task force operated by Bergen County’s YWCA during her undergraduate years. Currently, she serves on their Gala committee and is the Chair of the Junior Board for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. At the University of New Haven, Zanaiya has worked with the Non-Profit Institute and the Community Building Workgroup of the Division of Student Affairs.
A native of northern New Jersey, Zanaiya attended the University of New Haven, where she graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Business Management. Zanaiya is also currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Strategic Leadership from the University of New Haven. Zanaiya currently lives in New Haven, Connecticut.
