As the Assistant Director for the Myatt Center, Zanaiya Léon co-chairs several planning committees for student-focused and university-wide programming that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. She supports the Director in the development and implementation of the Center’s programming and diversity training, supervises the Diversity Peer Educator (DPE) program, and helps plan and oversee the success of FLEx Connections - which is a new addition to the Center for Student Engagement, Leadership, and Orientation's (CSELO) FLEx program - that first launched in Summer 2020. Before becoming Assistant Director, Zanaiya was the Senior Coordinator for Leadership and Diversity & Inclusion - a role she served since August 2019 where she worked in both the Myatt Center and CSELO.
Before her work at the University of New Haven, she served as the Interim Development Coordinator for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra as well as their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She has also served on a racial justice task force operated by Bergen County’s YWCA during her undergraduate years. Currently, she serves on their Gala committee and is the Chair of the Junior Board for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. At the University of New Haven, Zanaiya has worked with the Non-Profit Institute and the Community Building Workgroup of the Division of Student Affairs.
A native of northern New Jersey, Zanaiya attended the University of New Haven, where she graduated in 2018 with a B.S. in Business Management and in 2020 with her MBA in Strategic Leadership.
