The SURF program provides opportunities for students to conduct in-depth, hands-on research, with guidance from their faculty mentors. SURF students conduct their research over the summer, participate in weekly seminars, submit a final paper, and present their findings at a campus research symposium.
When launched in 2007 there were 14 participants. By Summer 2015 the program had expanded to 50 participants representing a range of majors from each of the colleges. Through a competitive application process, more than 200 students have participated in SURF since its inception.
