Department of National Security

Interested in serving your country in the intelligence field? The University of New Haven is one of the few universities in the U.S. where you can pursue this calling. We've offered a successful graduate program in National Security for more than a decade. Our undergraduate program prepares you to enter the field sooner.

The Division of Government and Public Service has three minors available to undergraduate students: Fire Science, National Security, and Public Administration.

Qualified undergraduate students can explore dual degree programs leading to a Master of Public Administration or a Master of Science in National Security. Students who apply Direct Entry will be accepted to their undergraduate program of choice and receive a conditional acceptance to their chosen master's degree program. Admission to the graduate program is subject to completing undergraduate coursework with satisfactory academic progress. Most Direct Entry programs are designed to be completed in five calendar years.

The National Security program provides students with a sound understanding of the fundamental principles of the legal charter, presidential executive orders, and the framework that guides the operation of national security agencies. Also offered online.

The Division of Government and Public Service offers several graduate certificates, designed as options for persons having a baccalaureate degree, or a master's degree, who want to enroll in a part-time, short, coherent course of study at the graduate level.
