The University of New Haven is proud to welcome its Class of 2030, which was selected from a pool of nearly 23,000 applications. Leading up to National College Decision Day, the University received a record number of deposits for our incoming first-year class.

“Our commitment to offering market-responsive programs and delivering an unparalleled return on investment for our graduates is resonating strongly with high-achieving students and their families,” said President Jens Frederiksen, Ph.D. “Through our immersive, demand-driven majors, we are preparing our graduates to be better than ready for the careers of the future. This reimagined approach gives students the knowledge, skills, experience, and confidence to succeed in a rapidly changing economy. We are not simply preparing students for their first job. We are preparing them to seize every opportunity, adapt to change, and lead successful lives, personally, academically, and professionally.”

First-year and transfer residential students are moving into University housing on Thursday, Aug. 20. They will take part in Charge-In activities for the remainder of the week in advance of Welcome Week and the start of classes on Monday, August 24.

Convocation will take place on Friday, Aug. 21, bringing together new students, as well as faculty and staff for an annual University tradition.

Members of the Class of 2030 hail from 42 states and 20 countries. Approximately 75 percent of the incoming class will live in university housing. Among the incoming class, 40 percent are first-generation students, and 55 percent are multicultural students. The average GPA for the incoming class is 3.4.

"We are thrilled to welcome such a large and accomplished class of students who have chosen the University of New Haven to pursue their educational goals." Greg Eichhorn, Vice President of Enrollment

The University experienced an approximate 5 percent increase year over year in domestic applications for the Class of 2030. This is noteworthy as many institutions, especially in New England, are facing the impact of the “demographic cliff” due to the decline in birth rates since 2007.

As the University begins what promises to be another successful academic year, momentum continues to build in Charger Nation.

The incoming class of 2030 will witness many ongoing, forward-thinking projects and initiatives come to fruition, including the University’s full transition to the NCAA Division I athletic membership, which will be achieved ahead of the 2028-29 academic year.

When the fall semester begins, history will also be made thousands of miles away as the University officially launches its College of Business and Digital Innovation at the University of New Haven – Riyadh (NHU-Riyadh), in Saudi Arabia.

This milestone marks the opening of the world’s first U.S. international branch campus in Riyadh, representing a significant step in advancing the University’s global presence.

Back in West Haven, the University is set to break ground this fall on a new home for its Pompea College of Business. The new state-of-the-art, 50,000-square-foot facility will be located at the corner of Ruden Street and Campbell Avenue, designed into a steep hillside as a new campus landmark.

The building will feature collaborative learning spaces, an analytics and trading room, a student success hub, glass-enclosed café, and a 250-seat auditorium.

Development also continues on The Elevation Center, which is being created in a commercial space directly across from campus on Campbell Avenue. This 133,000-square-foot commercial space, adjacent to the new Pompea College of Business, is designed to enable ideas to move beyond the classroom through industry partnerships, preparing students to be better than ready for the global workforce of the future.

“At a time when colleges and universities are facing a challenging enrollment environment, we are thrilled to welcome such a large and accomplished class of students who have chosen the University of New Haven to pursue their educational goals,” said Greg Eichhorn, vice president of enrollment. “Their decision to become Chargers speaks volumes about the strength of our academic programs, the experience we provide, and the vibrant community they are joining. We are excited to support them every step of the way as they prepare for the careers of the future. On behalf of the admissions team, I would like to thank the entire University community for their support and dedication to our students.”
