The University of New Haven has announced it will be welcoming a record-breaking undergraduate first-year class. The University received nearly 1,400 deposits for its incoming Class of 2030, from an application pool of more than 22,000, leading up to National College Decision Day on May 1.

“While many institutions – particularly in New England – are facing the impact of the ‘demographic cliff,’ the University of New Haven has continued to defy this trend with record domestic undergraduate enrollment levels,” said University President Jens Frederiksen, Ph.D. “We are pleased to see our commitment to delivering an unparalleled return on investment and preparing better-than-ready graduates is resonating strongly with students and families.”

The surge in applications, deposits, and attendance at admissions events follows the University welcoming last year its most selective class in the University's history.

“The size and quality of this incoming class demonstrate the momentum of the University and the value students and families see in the educational experience we provide,” said Greg Eichhorn, vice president for enrollment. “This growth reflects the University’s continued investment in the success and excellence of our students and our Charger community.”

“Our Charger community is grateful for the confidence and trust our students and families have in our mission and vision,” said Jessica Goddu, executive director of undergraduate admissions. “Ultimately, our large incoming class is testament to the immersive and engaging learning opportunities created by our talented faculty in and out of the classroom and the devoted individuals across our University community who tirelessly support our students’ success.”

The University is pursuing a number a forward-looking initiatives that are laying the groundwork for continued momentum, including:

“These significant projects underscore the urgency we feel to respond to the inflection point facing higher education,” Frederiksen said. “We understand the mandate we have to prepare our graduates to excel in the global workforce of the future.”
