Are You Eligible for Financial Aid?
93% of Our Students Take Advantage of Financial Aid
All accepted full time students, regardless of need, are considered for Academic Based Scholarships, which are awarded at the time of acceptance to the University. For 2021-22 these awards range from $1,000 to $26,000.
How Financial Aid is Determined
In addition to Academic Scholarships, students may apply for need-based aid in the form of Employment, Grants and Loans. The financial need of each student is used to determine aid eligibility. Need is calculated by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), as determined by a federally mandated formula using the financial information supplied on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), from the Cost of Attendance (COA). Based on the student's need, the Financial Aid Office will produce an aid package that may include a combination of grants, loans, and employment. Incoming students are notified of their aid eligibility through a financial aid award letter which is sent to their home. This correspondence details the funds and amounts that the student has been awarded.
Financial Aid Award Information
New students begin receiving award letters in early January upon completion of the FAFSA and acceptance into the university. In the mean time, our University of New Haven net price calculator can provide you with an estimated package.
Returning students will be sent an email in early June alerting them that their financial aid award is ready. Students should log into the online University of New Haven financial aid system to view and accept their financial aid award.
