Tuition Discounts for Corporations, Public Safety, and Other Entities

The University of New Haven is pleased to offer tuition discounts to employees of various corporations and organizations, as well as public safety personnel.


Eligible Groups & Entities

The University currently offers tuition discounts to the following groups and entities:

Public Safety

A 50% tuition discount is offered to first responders and other active public safety personnel (all states) including:

  • Police Officers
  • Firefighters
  • Volunteer Firefighters (Graduate courses only)
  • Emergency Medical Technicians
  • Law Enforcement personnel (local, state, federal, international)

Members of the Allingtown Fire Department are eligible for a 100% tuition discount.

Community

City of West Haven Employees (other than Fire or Police) are eligible for a 50% tuition discount.

Corporate

A 20% tuition discount is offered to employees of the following corporations and organizations:

  • Guilford Savings Bank
  • IAFCI
  • Institute for Internal Controls

  • New London city employees
  • People's United Bank
  • Pfizer
  • Purdue Pharma
  • Southern CT Gas Company
  • United Illuminating
  • United Technologies
  • Yale University employees

Eligibility Requirements

In order to receive a tuition discount, students must submit verification of their employment to the One Stop Office. Students will need to request a letter on their company letterhead from their human resources representative or their direct supervisor verifying their current employment. Letters must be dated no more than 30 days prior to the date of submission.

Employment verification letters should be emailed to Kathryn Roach at KRoach@newhaven.edu.

To continue receiving a tuition discount, employment verification letters must be submitted once per academic year and are due two weeks prior to the first day of classes.

Please Note:

It is the student's responsibility to contact our office and submit the appropriate documentation by the published due date.

These tuition discounts cannot be combined with any other institutional discount, award, grant or scholarship.

Tuition discounts are applicable to tuition charges only and are not retroactive under any circumstances. Discounts will not be applied to prior terms regardless of employment dates.
