  • Student Memberships – Academic Year
    • During the Academic Year, the Beckerman Recreation Center membership fee for all current full-time and part-time University of New Haven students is included in their student fees.
    • To activate a new student membership, please follow the instructions provided on your Road Map or below in the Membership Portal section.
    Student Memberships – Summer Intersession

    University of New Haven students wishing to access the facility during the Summer Intersession between the spring semester and the fall semester are eligible to purchase a Student Summer Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center.

    • Students who will be enrolled for the upcoming fall semester are eligible to purchase a Summer Student Membership.
    • Proof of enrollment for the upcoming fall semester will be required at the time of Membership purchase.
    • Payment is required in full, at the time of activation with a check or card (debit or credit, excluding American Express).

  • Faculty And Staff Memberships

    All current University of New Haven Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase a Faculty/Staff Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center.

    In order to be eligible to purchase the following memberships, you must be a current employee at the University of New Haven. Our Membership Team will create your membership profile and email you when you may come to activate your membership at the Beckerman Recreation Center Welcome Desk.

    Please note: Sodexo, Centers LLC, part-time, adjunct, and any other non-University of New Haven employees are not eligible to enroll in payroll deductions. All non-University of New Haven full-time employees may only choose to enroll in a Monthly Repetitive or 12-Month Upfront membership.

    Faculty/Staff Membership Application


    Payroll Deduction
    • A Payroll Deduction Membership is a monthly, repetitive membership for current, full-time University of New Haven employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.
    • $12 per month paid directly from Member’s paycheck through the Payroll Office.
    • Payroll deduction for monthly fees will remain active until cancelled through the Membership Cancellation Form (see “Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation” below).
    • Add-Ons Available with Payroll Deduction Membership
      • Up to 5 Dependent Memberships for $20 per month each (see “Dependent Memberships” below).
    Monthly Repetitive
    • A Monthly Repetitive Membership is a monthly, repetitive membership for current University of New Haven employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.
    • $12 per month paid directly from the Member’s credit card saved to their RecAuto profile.
    • Repetitive charges for my monthly fees will remain active until canceled through the Membership Cancellation Form (see “Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation” below).
    • Add-Ons Available with Payroll Deduction Membership
      • Up to 5 Dependent Memberships for $20 per month each (see “Dependent Memberships” below).
    12-Month Upfront
    • A 12-Month Upfront is a paid in full membership for current University of New Haven employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.
    • One-time cost of $144. This membership requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a check or card (debit or credit, excluding American Express).
    • Membership expires 12 months from the date of purchase.
      • Upfront memberships are not eligible for cancellation (see “Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation” below).
    • Add-Ons Available with a 12-Month Upfront Membership
      • Up to 5 Dependent Memberships for $240 each for 12 months from the date of purchase (see “Dependent Memberships” below).
    Dependent Memberships
    • Age Restrictions:
      • Individuals 15 years of age and younger are not permitted to be sponsored as Dependent Members.
      • Individuals 16 years of age and older are permitted to be Dependent Members. 16 years of age and younger are not permitted in the Fitness Center (including upper-level cardio area, lower-level weight room, and functional training room.)
      • Individuals 17 years of age and younger cannot sign their own “Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement”, a waiver must be signed by a legal guardian.
    • Dependent Members must show a Government Issued ID or proof of Identification at the time of activation
    • Sponsor must be present at the time of activation
    • Dependents are not eligible for Add-Ons
    • Dependents will be connected to the main Faculty/Staff Membership with the Sponsor taking responsibility for the dependent.
      • Sponsors with Payroll Deduction or Repetitive memberships will pay for Dependent Memberships repetitively through Payroll Deductions or repetitive payments via credit card for $20/month each.
      • Sponsors with a 12-Month Upfront membership will pay for Dependent Memberships for 12 months upfront as well for $240 each.

    Faculty/Staff Members can add a Dependent Member to their own application in the “Faculty/Staff Membership Application” above. If your sponsor’s membership is already active, you can fill out your own application.

    Day Passes

    Single day pass for current University of New Haven Faculty and Staff or current University of New Haven Students during Summer Intersession.

    • Must have University ID, proof of employment, or proof of enrollment at the time of purchase.
    • $7 per Day Pass – only valid on the date of purchase. This requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a check or card (debit or credit, excluding American Express).
    • Multiple visits are permitted on the date of purchase.
    University of New Haven Alumni

    All University of New Haven Alumni are eligible to purchase an Alumni Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center. A Beckerman Recreation Center Memberships includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events.

    • An Alumni Membership is a monthly, repetitive membership.
    • $25 per month paid directly from the Member’s credit card saved to their RecAuto profile
    • Repetitive charges for my monthly fees will remain active until canceled through the Membership Cancellation Form (see “Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation” below).

    Parking: Alumni members may park in the Maxcy Visitor Lot.

    Lockers: Alumni members are not eligible to purchase a locker, but may use day use lockers and locker rooms during their visits.

    In order to be eligible to purchase the Alumni membership, you must complete our Membership Application and provide proof of graduation. Our Membership Team will create your membership profile and email you when you may come to complete your payment and sign your agreement at the Beckerman Recreation Center Welcome Desk.

    Faculty/Staff Retiree Memberships

    All University of New Haven Retirees are eligible to purchase a Retiree Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center. A Beckerman Recreation Center Memberships includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events.

    • A Retiree Membership is a monthly, repetitive membership.
    • $20 per month paid directly from the Member’s credit card saved to their RecAuto profile.
    • Repetitive charges for my monthly fees will remain active until canceled through the Membership Cancellation Form (see “Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation” below).

    In order to be eligible to purchase the Retiree membership, you must provide proof of employment. Our Membership Team will create your membership profile and email you when you may come to complete your payment and sign your agreement at the Beckerman Recreation Center Welcome Desk.

    Guest Passes
    • Active Beckerman Recreation Center Members can purchase a single day pass for anyone over the age of 16. The Active Member will sponsor the Guest.
    • $10 per Day Pass – only valid on the date of purchase. This requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a check or card (debit or credit, excluding American Express).
      • Multiple visits are permitted on the date of purchase.
    • Age Restrictions:
      • Individuals 15 years of age and younger are not permitted to be sponsored as Dependent Members.
      • Individuals 16 years of age and older are permitted to be Dependent Members. 16 years of age and younger are not permitted in the Fitness Center (including upper-level cardio area, lower-level weight room, and functional training room.)
      • Individuals 17 years of age and younger cannot sign their own “Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement”, a waiver must be signed by a legal guardian.
    • Members may sponsor up to three guests per day and ten unique guests per semester.
    • Guests must show a Government Issued ID or proof of Identification at the time of activation.
    • Sponsor Members must be present at the time of activation.
    • Guests must always remain with their Sponsor while in the facility.
      • Guests will be connected to the main Faculty/Staff Membership with the Sponsor taking responsibility for the dependent.
    • Any membership may be canceled within seven (7) days from the activation date with a full refund. Beyond the 7 day cancellation policy, please see membership-specific cancellation policies below.
    • Members must provide written proof of cancellation by submitting a Membership & Locker Rental Cancellation Form
    • A confirmation email will be sent to the provided email address within five (5) business days of submitting the cancellation form, notifying the Member of their official cancellation date.
    • Any charges posted on the account during the cancellation process will be the responsibility of the Member.
      • Members are responsible for any current balances at time of cancellation.
      • Any exceptions to the cancellation policy must be authorized by the Director of Campus Recreation.
      • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to make a judgment decision on any cancellation and/or refund scenarios not addressed in this policy.
      • Refunds will not be given for lack of use.
      • Membership refunds will not be given for Holiday/event closings, facility/ emergency closures, etc.
      • Memberships that are three (3) months overdue will be terminated. All charges and balances will be the responsibility of the member.
      • Any guest who violates any policy or procedure and has to be removed from the facility will not be given a refund.
    • The cancellation process is dependent on membership and payment type. See specifics below.
      • For Faculty/Staff Payroll Deduction Cancellations, upon receiving the cancellation form, Member will be assigned an official cancellation date and an official cancellation form will be sent to the Business Office to end payroll deduction. The exact end date of payroll deduction will be determined by the business office.
      • Faculty and staff ending their affiliation with the University of New Haven must cancel their membership upon leaving the University; otherwise they will be responsible for any charges on the account.
      • Members who purchase a 12-Month Upfront Membership are not eligible for early cancellation or refund.
      • Any faculty staff member that is no longer employed by the University, with the exception of retirees, will be provided a refund for the prorated portions of their unused membership.
      • Guest and Day-Use passes will be provided refunds only during emergency/unanticipated closures.

    Activating Student Memberships - Academic Year
    How to register (18 years of age or older)
    1. Follow the Member Portal link above
    2. Click “Access My Account,” next to “First time here?”
    3. Fill in your first and last name followed by your University of New Haven email address.
    4. You will receive a verification code to use to access your account.
    5. Review and sign the Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement.
    6. Please also fill out the emergency contact section to continue to activate your account.
    7. You will finalize your account on your first visit to the facility where we will take your profile picture.
    How to register (Under 18 years of age)

    If you will be under 18 years of age when you come to campus, please follow the instructions below to access your account.

    1. Share this link with your parent/guardian for them to sign your Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement.
    2. Once the agreement is signed, you (the student) should visit the Beckerman Recreation Center during hours of operation and ask the staff what your next steps are to activate your membership and take your profile picture.
