State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements

The University of New Haven has been approved by Connecticut to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

The University of New Haven is authorized to operate in all states that participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education in May of 2017.

The University of New Haven is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). As an institutional member of NC-SARA, the University of New Haven is authorized to deliver distance education programs in other NC-SARA member states. The University of New Haven is exempt from seeking specific authorization from California.

Students considering pursuing an academic program that leads to professional licensure within their respective state are advised to contact the appropriate licensing agency within their home state to seek information and additional guidance before beginning a program outside of their home state.

Important Information Related the M.S. in Environmental Engineering Online Program

Please note that this master’s-level program does not satisfy the educational requirement for students who are seeking PE (Professional Engineering) licensure.

Graduate engineering programs are not designed to meet licensing requirements and the accrediting and regulatory agencies responsible for engineering education do not license or approve graduate engineering programs for the purpose of meeting PE licensing requirements.

  • Alaska

    The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Alaska under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • Arizona

    The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Arizona under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • Arkansas

    The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Arkansas under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • California

    As an out-of-state private institution, the University of New Haven is not under the purview of the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary educations, thus Bureau approval for the University of New Haven to offer its programs to residents of California is not required. Therefore, the University of New Haven is in compliance with California regulations concerning postsecondary distance education.

    The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Colorado under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.
