State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements

The University of New Haven has been approved by Connecticut to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

The University of New Haven is authorized to operate in all states that participate in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education in May of 2017.

The University of New Haven is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). As an institutional member of NC-SARA, the University of New Haven is authorized to deliver distance education programs in other NC-SARA member states. The University of New Haven is exempt from seeking specific authorization from California.

  • The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Alaska under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Arizona under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • The University of New Haven is authorized to operate distance education programs in Arkansas under the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). Approval for institutional participation was granted by the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education on May 30, 2017.

  • As an out-of-state private institution, the University of New Haven is not under the purview of the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary educations, thus Bureau approval for the University of New Haven to offer its programs to residents of California is not required. Therefore, the University of New Haven is in compliance with California regulations concerning postsecondary distance education.
