Old Lyme and Beyond

Located in Old Lyme, at the mouth of the Connecticut River where it meets Long Island Sound, Lyme Academy College is surrounded by one of the most beautiful, safe and unspoiled areas in New England. The town occupies about 27 square miles of shoreline, tidal marsh, inland wetlands and forested hills. The shoreline area offers many outdoor and recreational opportunities.

The Perfect Surroundings

The campus is located in easy reach of urban areas: two hours to Boston or New York, one hour to Hartford or Providence, 45 minutes to New Haven.

It is also close to recreational hubs: one hour to Newport and the Rhode Island beaches, three hours to Cape Cod, four hours to the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont.

The location of the campus offers particular advantages for the study of art. The proximity to world-class museums in nearby New York and Boston and major collections in Connecticut at Yale University, the Wadsworth Atheneum, New Britain Museum of American Art and the Florence Griswold Museum, offers a range of art opportunities not found in many other art colleges or schools.

One of the best parts of a being a Lyme student is the opportunities you’ll have on the University’s main campus in West Haven, just more than a 30-minute drive from Lyme. Once on campus, you’re steps from the cultural hub of New Haven and a train ride from New York City and some of the world’s most famous museums. The opportunities to inspire creativity are limitless.

A Gateway to New York City, New England - and Beyond

No matter which direction you head from our campus in Old Lyme, there’s something new to discover. You’re only two hours from Boston and New York, with opportunities to appreciate world-class museums, to studios and galleries. You’re three hours from the majestic beauty of New Hampshire and Vermont to the North or the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the South. Plus, the history and hustle and bustle of our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C., a city that is built on arts and culture, is only five hours away.
