Defer Undergraduate Admission
Deferment Policy
Full-time undergraduate students who are admitted to the University of New Haven may defer their admission one time for one semester or up to one year from their original term of admission.
In order to defer, students must submit the enrollment deposit to hold their place in the class and submit the deferred admission form.
Students granted a deferment must seek written approval from the University of New Haven’s Director of Transfer Enrollment prior to enrolling in courses at another institution. If a student enrolls in college courses during the deferral period without such authorization, courses may not be eligible for transfer.
The merit scholarship awarded to the student at the time of admission will be honored when the student enrolls. Any financial aid awarded to the student will remain the same if deferred for one semester. If the student defers for the full year, he/she must submit a new FAFSA. Students deferring are encouraged to consult with the University to determine if a new FAFSA will be necessary or find out more details about possible aid for the new start term.
