Important Information

• Admission

  There is not a separate application or admission process for the Academic English Preparatory Program (AEPP). All students must apply through the undergraduate or graduate admission process only.

  Once you have applied to the undergraduate or graduate major of your choice and you have been "Conditionally Admitted," you are automatically accepted into our Academic English Preparatory Program to complete your English proficiency for full-time admission.

• Program Highlights
  • English language proficiency instruction designed for students interested in Graduate and Undergraduate majors at the University of New Haven.
  • You can attend classes in real-time, or at a time convenient to you.
  • Students in the on-line AEPP program who apply for and are granted conditional admission to the University of New Haven will continue instruction, on campus, until they successfully complete the AEPP Level 4 examination.
  • A student who completes the AEPP Level 4 examination is granted full admission to his or her selected major.
  • No standardized tests needed for admission to the program.
  • The AEPP online program is open to high school graduates, college graduates and working professionals.
• English Proficiency

  No official IELTS or TOEFL score is required for the University of New Haven Academic English Preparatory Program. You can complete the Focal Skills Placement Test instead. The program can take 4, 8, or 12 months to complete, depending on the student’s incoming English proficiency level.

  International Student Handbooks are designed to answer some of your questions and help guide you through your academic and cultural experiences at the University of New Haven. We strongly recommend that you read it carefully and keep it for future reference.
