Sandra Jeknavorian, an assistant professor at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, has been selected as the recipient of the distinguished service award in art education presented by the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts of the University of New Haven.

“Jeknavorian is being honored for her commitment to arts education, particularly for her role as the founding coordinator of the Visual Fine Arts Program at Three Rivers Community College and her continued excellence in the field of arts education,” said Todd Jokl, campus dean.
Jeknavorian received her B.F.A degree in painting from Hartford Art School and her M.F.A degree in painting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Her work is part of the permanent collection of the United States Department of the State, and two of her pieces are installed in the United States Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia.
She has exhibited her work at many venues, including Studio Soto in Boston, Massachusetts, and the D.C. Arts Center in Washington, D.C.
