The University of New Haven announced today the execution of Master Partnership Agreements with four leading companies, Sailion, Medtronic, Sheffield Pharmaceuticals, and ARBURG, marking a significant expansion of the University's industry engagement strategy through its Elevation Center.
The agreements bring together organizations representing advanced manufacturing, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and emerging technology sectors, creating new opportunities for collaboration between industry leaders and University faculty, students, and research centers.
The new partnerships represent a shared commitment to solving real-world business challenges while creating meaningful opportunities for student success, workforce development, applied research, and industry innovation. Through The Elevation Center, companies can access the full breadth of University resources through a single point of engagement, enabling customized collaborations aligned with their strategic priorities.
"While each of these partnerships is unique, they all share a common goal: connecting companies with the talent, expertise, innovation, and resources they need to succeed," said Paul Lavoie, vice president of corporate partnerships, and innovation and executive director of The Elevation Center at the University of New Haven. "Whether a company needs engineering support, chemistry expertise, AI applications, marketing insights, workforce solutions, or supply-chain intelligence, The Elevation Center serves as the front door to an ecosystem that can help solve those challenges."
These agreements establish a framework for long-term collaboration that connects companies with the University's talent, expertise, research capabilities, and innovation ecosystem.
Several of the partnerships are already advancing toward specific initiatives:
Medtronic has identified a portfolio of potential opportunities involving artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital engineering, biomedical testing, manufacturing quality, and predictive analytics. The company is also exploring opportunities to leverage the University's expertise in supply chain resilience and supplier intelligence through The Elevation Center’s National Center for Supply Chain Intelligence.
Sheffield Pharmaceuticals is evaluating several collaborative opportunities across the University, including marketing strategy and consumer insights through the Pompea College of Business and College of Arts and Sciences, chemistry and formulation expertise through the University's science faculty, and supply chain optimization initiatives leveraging the capabilities of the National Center for Supply Chain Intelligence. These projects have the potential to combine faculty expertise with student talent to address business challenges while providing hands-on experiential-learning opportunities.
ARBURG, a global leader in injection molding machinery and automation technology, is advancing its first collaboration with the University through a faculty-led Sales Analytics and Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) Initiative. The project will combine faculty expertise with a team of University students to analyze customer, sales, and market data to identify characteristics associated with successful customer relationships, develop customer segmentation methodologies, create ideal customer profiles, and support data-informed business development strategies. The engagement represents the first Task Order under the Master Partnership Agreement and highlights the University's ability to deliver applied-analytics projects that create value for industry partners while providing students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities.
Sailion joins the growing network of companies partnering with the University to explore opportunities that connect innovation, workforce development, and industry expertise with student talent and academic excellence.
The agreements support The Elevation Center's broader mission of serving as Connecticut's front door to a connected ecosystem of universities, community colleges, workforce boards, technical high schools, government agencies, industry associations, and employers. By coordinating expertise and resources across this ecosystem, The Elevation Center helps organizations address challenges related to workforce, technology adoption, innovation, growth, and competitiveness.
"Companies should not have to navigate a fragmented landscape of programs, institutions, and resources," Lavoie added. "Our role is to understand the challenge, assemble the right partners, and deliver solutions. Whether the need is talent, research, innovation, supply chain expertise, marketing support, or technology adoption, we bring together the capabilities required to help organizations succeed."
The University expects these partnerships to generate a range of initiatives, including applied research projects, internships, workforce development programs, technology adoption initiatives, supply chain consulting, business strategy projects, and industry-sponsored student engagements. Together, these efforts will strengthen Connecticut's innovation economy while preparing students to be better than read to lead in a rapidly changing workforce.
