The ranking was developed by a guide called Great College Deals, whose mission is to provide high-quality, well-researched rankings and other resources for individuals looking for an affordable college education, said Pam Beiler, communications manager.
Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts has intentionally cultivated an inclusive environment that provides remarkable opportunities and arts training to its students in drawing, illustration, painting and sculpture, said Todd Jokl, campus dean. We aspire to provide a world-class education in a very intimate setting with a culture that supports rigorous approaches to the arts.
In addition to the specialized arts campus of Lyme Academy College, Jokl said, B.F.A. students now also have access to the wide breadth of courses at the University of New Haven as well as access to their campus in Tuscany, Italy, just outside of Florence. The partnership provides remarkable resources to students at Lyme, he said.
The ranking was created using information from the National Center for Education Statistics’ College Navigator database. Schools selected for the ranking offer advanced fine arts learning facilities, international exchange opportunities, experiential learning, frequent exhibition opportunities, flexible degree track options, and diversity in faculty and student body.
The editors highlighted Lyme Academy Colleges tight-knit artist community. This tight-knit artist community (at Lyme Academy College) is a uniquely personalized learning environment in which to develop ones artistic talents, the guide says.
In developing this ranking of 20 best deals on small colleges for aspiring artists, we sought opportunity-rich, small fine arts colleges with a net price comparatively lower than similar institutions of this size and specialty, the guide said. We awarded points based on scholarship availability, diversity in faculty and student body, advanced fine arts learning facilities, progressive curriculum, international exchange opportunities, experiential learning, frequent exhibition opportunities, flexible degree track options, and any additional distinctions that enhance the small arts college experience.
