For Samantha Hart, an incoming illustration major in the Class of 2022 at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts of the University of New Haven, Lyme has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.

An Old Lyme native, she was introduced to Lyme by her parents when she took an interest in art. As a young artist, she participated for several years in Lyme’s highly regarded Pre-College Academy for high school students. In the various workshops and classes she took, she says she found instructors who really care about their students.

Then, as she started her college search, attended open houses, saw different campuses and learned about college life, she found that none of the places she visited "were like Lyme.

"I remember talking with my mom about making a final decision, and I told her that I would regret not going to Lyme," she says. "There and then my decision was cast in stone. I did not want to change it.

"I am excited to study illustration at Lyme. And I am looking forward to creating relationships with my fellow members of the Class of 2022 as we pursue our shared passion for the arts." Samantha Hart ’22
