About Monika

As an economic historian (MA, University of Bonn, PhD, European University Institute, Florence) I have taught economics and politics classes, mostly at U.S. university campuses in Florence, and now Prato. My research and publications are mainly in the field of international finance, with an emphasis on risk management in banks, and foreign aid during the Cold War.

I have lived in Tuscany for more than 20 years, still enjoy it, and I am eager to share this experience with my students. After all, I started out like them, coming to Florence to further my academic career. Despite stints in other countries, I now consider Florence and surroundings my home.

The cities of Prato and Florence have unique experiences to offer, and it remains a joy to see, each semester, students open up and grow
