The University of New Haven announced today that its College of Business has earned accreditation from AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - joining a select group of schools worldwide recognized for providing the highest-quality business programs for undergraduate and graduate degrees in business.

"This is an exceptional achievement, especially when you consider that less than five percent of business colleges worldwide and 30 percent in the U.S. have received AACSB accreditation," said UNH President Steven H. Kaplan. "The University of New Haven has a history of delivering the highest-quality education to students, and membership in this prestigious group of schools speaks to the level of education we provide locally and to the global community through our College of Business."

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education.

"AACSB congratulates the University of New Haven and interim dean Lynne Rosansky on earning accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "AACSB Accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. The entire UNH team—including the administration, faculty, directors, staff, and students—are to be commended for their roles in earning accreditation."

UNH serves a broad student community - both in the U.S. and internationally - and has expanded its number of campuses. In addition to the main campus in West Haven, UNH has campuses in Orange, Conn.; Old Lyme, Conn; San Francisco; and Prato, Italy. The University is also looking to further off-campus expansion, Kaplan noted.

"This accreditation will provide new opportunities for our students and faculty, who will have the opportunity to present at AACSB conferences and gain access to AACSB resources and research opportunities," Kaplan said. "Also, because accreditation reflects educational excellence and quality, having this distinction will help us recruit even higher quality students and faculty from around the world."

To meet growing demand and to improve services, the University has spent nearly $200 million on construction and infrastructure projects since 2005. In the midst of all of this growth and expansion, membership in AACSB was a logical next step for our College of Business, Kaplan said.
