About Jose

My name is Jose Manuel Ramos. I was born and raised in a small town in the north side of the Dominican Republic. I moved to the US in 2013 and have been pursing my passion in math since I arrived.

I have a bachelor’s in education with an emphasis in mathematics and one master’s degree in Pure Mathematics and another one in Educational Leadership.

To me, math is an art, entertaining and fascinating. I know many don’t see it as I do so I try to make learning math as fun and practical as I possibly can. I think this helps students learn better. I became a math Youtuber in hopes to create a pool of resources for anyone interested in anything from solving a Rubik’s cube to learning about Integration by parts. This channel that I started as hobby, now has more more than 64,000 subscribers and millions of views.

While I was in the Dominican Republic, I created a math club in my town where we participated in many city and national competitions and won many trophies and medals. I truly enjoy teaching math and watching my students learn. I have been teaching math for over 20 years and hope to continue pursuing my passion in years to come.

I also own “Tierra Soap Company” along with my wife. It is a small business where we design and create natural artisanal soap using the cold process.

My wife and I have been married for 15 years and have two precious children, Rosaly (13) and Joseph (3).

Fun facts: I enjoy baking, going on road trips with my family and learning about our complex universe through cosmology. I am also a self-taught musician. I can play the guitar, clarinet, soprano saxophone, flute and sing from time to time. I also have a Rubik’s Cube collection and hold small competitions at home.
