Art and Graphic Arts Portfolio Requirements

Portfolio Review Process for Students Applying for Art or Graphic Design

Students applying to the University of New Haven for our undergraduate majors in Art or Graphic Design must submit a portfolio of their work and/or a written statement that describes their interest in majoring in these areas of study.

Submission Requirements

For students who have taken art or design courses in high school or independently, we require the submission of a portfolio. This portfolio should strive to demonstrate your interests, talents, and variety in your work and should focus on your strongest examples. A minimum of five (5) and a maximum of fifteen (15) pieces should be submitted for review. This portfolio will be reviewed in conjunction with your application for admission to the University of New Haven.

Written Statement Option

Students submitting a portfolio or those that are interested in Art and Graphic Design but have not had the opportunities to develop a portfolio should submit a brief written statement about their interests in art and/or graphic design. This written statement should comment on your interests in the fields of visual arts and potential directions you may choose to take.
