Black And Latino Alumni Weekend:
April 23-26, 2026
The Black and Latino Alumni Weekend (BLAW) started in 2009 to invite alumni back to campus. During this weekend, alums and current students participated in various events sponsored by the University’s multicultural recognized student organizations (RSOs).
Due to the popularity of the weekend and the increase in the participation of our Multicultural Recognized Student Organizations, BLAW has since expanded beyond the weekend, with events beginning Thursday, April 23.

Mx. Pride Drag & Cosplay Extravaganza
7 - 9 p.m.
Location: Beckerman Recreation Center
Mx.PRIDE Drag & Cosplay Extravaganza is a student pageant where eight undergraduate student contestants compete in two dress categories and a talent show. Each contestant has an opportunity to express and showcase their unique style, creativity, and excellence in an attempt to win the title Mx. PRIDE Majesty. We'll have special guest judges and performers from RuPaul's Drag Race as well as local performers from Connecticut's drag scene! This event showcases the many talents of queer black and latino drag and ballroom performers.

Carne Asada

Carne Asada is a cookout/ outdoor party with hispanic foods, trinkets, games, and photobooth oppurtunities. This annual event is one of the signature celebrations of our organization, which highlights the vibrant heritage, history, and contributions of Latin American and Latinx/e students to the University of New Haven.
Annual Fashion Show
6 - 10 p.m.
Location: Beckerman Recreation Center
The Caribbean Student Association’s Annual Fashion Show is known for its signature element of surprise. The show’s theme is kept secret until just before the event, building excitement and curiosity across the community. Each year, the runway comes alive with stunning visuals, bold concepts, and student models who command the stage with confidence and style, photobooths, and so much more.The show also spotlights talented emerging designers from across the Tri-State area, showcasing their artistry through exclusive collections. More than a showcase, the CSA Fashion Show is a celebration of diversity and self-expression.

20th Annual Stroll Show

The Alpha Lambda Chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Incorporada hosts an annual stroll show that celebrates Greek unity through dynamic strolls and performances by multiple Greek-letter organizations, bringing together students, alumni, and the campus community to honor tradition and community.
Black Student Union: Sankofa Ball
7 - 11 p.m.
Location: Alumni Lounge, Bartels Hall
"The Sankofa Ball is an event to highlight the hard work and accomplishments of the Black Student Union. It also stands as an opportunity for other Multicultural Recognized Student Organizations to demonstrate their achievements throughout the academic year! This event is a space for active members and alumni to come together and celebrate as we conclude the end of the school year. Tickets will be sold to alumni and students, with prices being announced soon.

MDC Awards

Location: German Club
Monsoon Dance Crew will be giving out superlatives and awards to extraordinary students in the arts at the University of New Haven. There will be various performances in between the presentation of the awards by other performing Recognized Student Organizations, alumni, and our dance team.
