University of New Haven Intercultural Relations

The Office of Intercultural Relations seeks to advance the mission of the University of New Haven by providing students opportunities to gain intercultural understanding and to succeed in an inclusive academic and social environment that respects the uniqueness and contributions of all community members.

All members of the University community- regardless of background-are welcome and encouraged to stop by the office, chat with the Director, check out the Diversity Resource Center and attend the office's events!

  1. About the Office

    The Office of Intercultural Relations assists the University in promoting cultural diversity, awareness, and sensitivity throughout the campus community. Its programs, services and activities promote cultural identity and understanding within a multicultural environment.

    All members of the University community--regardless of background--are welcome and encouraged to stop by and chat with the Director, browse the Diversity Resource Center, and attend Office of Intercultural Relations-sponsored events!

  2. Meet the Staff

    The Director of Intercultural Relations is responsible for the daily operations of the Office of Intercultural Relations and supervising the undergraduate student employees.  She is also responsible for promoting cultural awareness and appreciation of diversity through the coordination of campus-wide educational and social programs celebrating the campus's diversity.  Other responsibilities include advising the Office's Diversity Resource Center; serving as a resource, advocate and principal advisor on diversity issues to the campus community and specifically to underrepresented student; and collaborating with various University offices and departments to promote the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students.

    Wanda Tyler has been the Director of Intercultural Relations since July 2006 when she joined the UNH community.  She graduated in 1996 from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology; she earned her Master's degree in Counseling - Student Personnel Services in 1998 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

  3. Get Involved

    Students can get involved in the work of the Office of Intercultural Relations as a Diversity Peer Educator or as a student employee! Contact the Director for more information on these opportunities!

Alicia Anabel Santos is a proud New York-born Dominican who is passionate about writing works that empower and inspire women to find their voices. Her One Woman Show "I Was Born" will held in the German Club on Thursday, April 4th.
