The following are awarded at the discretion of the University of New Haven and, unless otherwise noted, require no special application. Students who qualify for these scholarships will be notified by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the time of their acceptance to the University.
A student who has achieved academic success in high school and on the SAT or ACT is considered for this scholarship. The minimum criteria for this scholarship is a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and a combined minimum critical reading and math SAT score of 1200 or a composite score of 26 on the ACT. The Presidential Scholarship varies depending on the combination of the applicant's SAT/ACT score and cumulative GPA. Awards range from $16,000 - $20,000 per academic year.

Students who have achieved academic success in high school but have not achieved the SAT or ACT requirements for the Freshman Presidential Scholarship are eligible for this award. The minimum criteria for this scholarship is a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and a combined minimum critical reading and math SAT score of 1050 or a composite score of 23 on the ACT. The Distinguished Scholar Award varies depending on the student's SAT or ACT score and GPA. The award ranges from $12,000 - $15,000.
The Distinguished Scholar Award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory progress towards a bachelor's degree and a B (3.0) cumulative grade point average.
This award is for students who do not meet the SAT or ACT standards of the Freshman Presidential Scholarship or Distinguished Scholar Award but have shown consistent academic performance in high school.
This award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory progress towards a bachelor's degree and a B (3.0) cumulative grade point average.
This award is presented to students who have demonstrated excellence in areas such as community service, volunteer work, or student leadership. The award is offered in addition to any other merit-based award a student receives and is selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Leadership Awards are extremely selective and offered to only 50 students each year.
This award is guaranteed for your first year and renewable each year provided you remain a full-time undergraduate student while maintaining satisfactory progress towards a bachelor's degree and a B (3.0) cumulative grade point average.
This award is presented to students who exhibit strong and consistent academic performance, but do not qualify for one of the other academic awards (Presidential, Distinguished Scholarship, Academic Achievement). This scholarship is awarded by the Scholarship Committee of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
