Some degree programs in the Graduate School have individual requirements for admission. The following programs have special criteria in addition to the general criteria for the Graduate School. Please consult individual program webpages for further information.
MBA, Business Administration
Applicants are required to submit scores from the GMAT or GRE to be considered for admission. A resume is also required.
MS, Education
Elementary and Secondary Teacher Preparation Programs
Applications to the Education program will only be accepted for the Fall or Winter trimesters. Students interested in consideration for the fall trimester must submit all required materials by June 15th; for the Winter trimester, October 31st. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 or complete a GPA Waiver application (Deadline: April 1) in order to be considered for admission. Students must submit a resume, Praxis I scores or a Praxis I waiver and attend a mandatory interview. Applicants for the Secondary Program must also submit Praxis II scores. MBA Cohort Program
Candidates for the MBA cohort program must have a minimum of two (2) years of administrative, managerial, or professional work experience to be considered for the program. Admission decisions are based on a combination of undergraduate and/or graduate academic performance, professional and/or business experience, the required letters of recommendation, and standardized test scores. Applicants are required to submit scores from the GMAT or GRE to be considered for admission. A resume is also required.
Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)
Candidates to the EMBA program should be middle- and upper-level professionals who have meaningful managerial responsibility. A resume is required in addition to other application materials. Please visit emba.newhaven.edu for more details.
MS, Forensic Science - Criminalistics
Admission to the Forensic Science program is only available for the Fall trimester. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2012, for Fall 2012 admission. Students interested in the Criminalistics concentration are required to submit GRE scores. In order to be eligible for the program, students must have a degree in a hard science field (biology, chemistry, or related field). Applications will be strengthened by an overall undergraduate average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and grades of "B" or better in science and mathematics courses.
MS, Forensic Science - Advanced Investigation and MS, Forensic Science - Fire Science
Admission to the Forensic Science program is only available for the Fall trimester. Students interested in the Advanced Investigation or Fire Science concentrations are not required to submit GRE scores. Applications to these programs will be strengthened by coursework in the natural sciences and an overall undergraduate average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
MS, Human Nutrition
The Human Nutrition program is most appropriate for registered dietitians and certain other licensed health professionals or for high school science teachers and/or others with undergraduate majors in chemistry or the biological sciences. Students must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or equivalent, with an above average undergraduate record including successfully completed prerequisite coursework in introductory biochemistry or organic chemistry plus human anatomy and physiology.
Industrial Engineering Dual Degree Program (MBA/MSIE)
Applicants to the MBA/MSIE program are expected to have engineering or technical degrees from programs accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), or demonstrated equivalent. Applicants are required to meet the admissions requirements for each of the relevant degree programs.
MS, Management of Sports Industries
Admissions decisions are based on an applicant's undergraduate and/or graduate academic performance, professional experience, and letters of recommendation.Applicants are required to submit scores from the GMAT or GRE to be considered for admission. A resume is also required.
Public Administration Dual Degree program (MBA/MPA)
Applicants to the MBA/MPA dual degree program must have an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and must submit scores from the GMAT or GRE to be considered for admission. A resume is also required.
MS, Taxation
Admission to the Taxation program is available to accountants, CPAs, attorneys, business people, and those holding an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Admissions decisions are based on an applicant's undergraduate and/or graduate academic performance, professional experience, and letters of recommendation. Applicants are required to submit scores from the GMAT or GRE to be considered for admission. A resume is also required.
