ChargerREC Fitness & Wellness programming isn’t just about working out!  While physical activity does play a large role, we are focused on shaping not just the student body, but the mind and spirit as well.  Our programs encompass a wide range of disciplines from group fitness, fitness equipment instruction, personal training, wellness seminars and events, and more!


  1. Fitness Centers

    Our Fitness Centers:

    Our Fitness and Wellness center covers approximately 6000 square feet of the David A. Beckerman Center.  The upper level consists of a wide variety of cardiovascular and selectorized strength equipment while the lower level is made up of a hefty selection of free weight and plate-loaded strength equipment.

    Our fitness attendants are eager to help you with any questions you may have.

    Our fitness centers are equipped with a wide variety of cardiovascular equipment including:

    Life Fitness, Precor and Woodway Treadmills
    Stairmaster Step Mills
    Precor Upright and Recumbent Stationary Bikes
    Concept II Rowing Machines
    Life Fitness and Precor Elliptical Cross Trainers
    Precor AMT's (Adaptive Motion Trainers)
    Sci-Fit Upper Body Ergometer

      Enjoy your exercise even more with the option watching TV!  Over half of our cardio pieces are equipped with cable-ready personal viewing screens.

      We also offer a full line of Nautilus Nitro selectorized equipment, four Star Trac Human Sport functional training stations, a multi-purpose cable cross machine and a variety of Nautilus plate-loaded strength and free weight equipment.

      What if I’ve never worked out before?

      Don’t worry!  Our fitness attendants are ready and willing to help!  We are happy to offer this 30 minute FREE orientation to anyone who has the desire to use our facility but lacks the basic know-how.  You’ll learn which machines work what systems and muscle groups, as well as how to operate the equipment.  You will not receive any exercise prescription during this time.  If you’re looking for more personal assistance, see our Personal Training information below.

      The ChargerREC Group X program is a comprehensive group fitness program designed to fit a wide variety of needs.  This program is included in your membership at no additional cost and offers up to 35 classes per week.  From AbSolution to Zumba, we’ve got you covered!

        Lifetime Health & Skills

        Our Lifetime Health & Skills courses (LHS) not only encourage and promote a healthy and active lifestyle,, but they're fun, too!
        Lifetime Health & Skills classes are unique to our Group X workout classes.  In these classes, you may get a great workout, but you also learn very specific skills that you don't get from our traditional Group X classes.  Every time you come to class, you learn something new and exciting!
        Additionally, class sizes are small, so you get to know your classmates and instructor. This environment makes it easy to enjoy yourself and let loose while developing a lifelong skill.
        Whether your goal is to meet new people with similar interests, gain knowledge or get a great workout, you will find a class that fits your life.
        Be sure to sign up early at the Beckerman Recreation Center Welcome Desk, as some LHS classes fill up fast! Minimum enrollment numbers must be met for the classes to be held. Cancellation decisions will be made at least two days prior to the class start date.

          WHAT WE DO...

          With careful attention to your personal history and goals, our personal trainers will design and implement an effective workout regimen as well as provide the motivation and tools to get you on track to a healthier way of life! Our personal trainers are skilled in the technical aspect of physical fitness as well as in the art of creating a comfortable and non-intimidating environment for each and every client regardless of age, ability or goals.

          We offer packages of five, ten or twenty one-hour sessions, the more you buy the more you save! 

          All new clients receive a FREE Comprehensive Fitness Assessment, a $30 value!


          3 Sessions broken down as follows:

          45-minute facility orientation given by our trained welcome staff
          60-minute comprehensive fitness assessment with a trainer
          60-minute one on one session with a trainer

            *All three sessions must take place within 2 weeks of purchase

            How fit are you?  Spend an hour with us to find out!

            You’ll spend one hour with one of our certified Personal Trainers assessing the following:

            Body Composition
            Body Mass Index
            Blood Pressure Reading
            Cardio Vascular Endurance Sub-Max Test
            Muscular Endurance
            Muscular Strength
            Resting Hear Rate
            Waist/Hip Ratio

              The trainer will also interpret the results for you and give basic suggestions on areas of improvement.                      


              Skin Fold Body Composition Assessment performed by a Personal Trainer (Approx 15 minutes)
