Club Sports are recreational or athletic student-led organizations that compete with other universities and colleges. Each club is a University of New Haven Recognized Student Organization and a member of a regional or national governing league/association. Participation and individual dues vary by club.

RECSports is an extensive intramural sport program that provides participants the opportunity to compete and socialize through organized sports leagues, one-day tournaments, special events, and online programs. More than 50 team and individual sport programs are offered throughout the academic year. Access to all RECSports programs is included in each facility membership.
GroupX are drop-in fitness classes designed for participants of all levels. A diverse range of classes is highlighted by spinning, meditation, yoga, cardio/strength, core, Zumba, and high-intensity based formats. More than 25 classes are offered each week during the academic year. Access to all GroupX classes are included in each facility membership.
Personal training offers participants an opportunity for 1-on-1 or small group fitness training. Personal trainers will work with you to develop an individualized program to meet your personal fitness goals. Personal Training is a fee-based program with several packages and rates available.
Massage therapy offers participants an opportunity for relaxation and stress relief. Massage therapists will work with you to develop an individualized session focusing on your stress-reduction needs. Massage therapy is a fee-based program with several packages and rates available.
Specialty Fitness Classes
Specialty fitness classes focus on progressively developing participants with specific fitness, endurance, and strength techniques. This is a fee-based program and the costs vary by class.
OutdoorREC are hiking trips that offer participants the opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy nature. This is a fee-based program and the costs vary by trips.
Special Events & Programs
Throughout the year, ChargerREC offers and hosts various events and programs including CPR/AED/first aid classes, concerts, fitness & wellness events, etc.
TeamREC (Student Employment)
Student employees are empowered to manage the programs of ChargerREC and the operations of the Beckerman Recreation Center. ChargerREC is the largest employer on-campus, employing more 100 students each year.
David A. Beckerman Recreation Center
The Beckerman Recreation Center is a 56,600-square-foot student recreation center that features two multi-purpose group fitness studios; weight room & fitness center; two racquetball courts; two hardwood activity courts (for basketball, volleyball, and badminton); a multi-activity court (for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, floor/roller hockey & various other activities); jogging track; juice bar; locker rooms (men’s, women’s & individual use) and lounge areas. The facility is regularly used by 75 percent of full-time undergraduate student body.
During the academic year, the Beckerman Recreation Center membership fee for all current full-time and part-time University of New Haven students is included in their tuition package.
University of New Haven faculty, staff, alumni, and family members are eligible to purchase memberships.
In addition to the Beckerman Recreation Center, students have access to two turf fields (DellaCamera Stadium and Kayo Field) and the University of New Haven Tennis Courts.
