About David

I was a forensic scientist from April 1988 through September 2003 and worked in three high profile crime laboratories. I started as a toxicologist, then worked as serologist at the Westchester Crime Laboratory in Valhalla, NY. I moved to NC in September 1994 and began training as a forensic firearm and toolmark examiner with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI). I became a Special Agent of the NCSBI when I graduated from the law enforcement academy in May 1995. I finished my training as a forensic firearm and toolmark examiner in 1997 at the same time I became the first Special Agent assigned to the crime laboratory to be assigned to the Special Response Team. We were the only SWAT team in NC with statewide jurisdiction. I left the NCSBI in August 2002 and moved to CT where I was hired by the CT State Police Crime Laboratory as a forensic firearm and toolmark examiner. I left that position in October 2003 when I was hired by the West Hartford Police Department as a Police Officer. I will retire on October 6, 2023 with 20 years of service.
