Student Exhibit 2014
Juried By Rachael Vaters-Carr
Night of the Arts: April 15, 6-9 p.m.
Seton Gallery is pleased to present another opportunity for University of New Haven students to display their
artistic talents in this year’s student exhibit, Breaking the Grid. Students of all majors (yes, ALL majors) are
welcome to submit artwork to by juried by local artist, Rachael Vaters-Carr. Now is the time for both art majors and
closet artists to come out and experience the pride of having their works admired by fellow students, faculty, and
other aspiring artists. Paintings, sculptures, digital art and video, and even napkin doodles are all welcome
submissions amongst many other mediums. Whether the pieces are completed assignments from class or
independent works, we encourage students to showcase their talents that we know they have.
Most artists go through the process of making a grid of some sort and are taught from the beginning to keep things
orderly and organized in their works. This show encourages others to break with and even apply higher learning, to
explore different ideas, and to not be afraid to be creative and think outside the box. Being an artist in this day and
age is tough. You have to be at the top of your game and always be thinking of the newest and most creative way
to do something. Bring something new and exciting to the table.
