Master of Arts

With a Master of Arts in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, you will have the professional knowledge and experience to improve the satisfaction and productivity of people at work.

The M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (MAIOP) program at the University of New Haven provides students with an exciting degree focused on the study of applying psychological principles to the workplace.

Graduates of the program work with individuals and groups on organization change and development, leadership and management development, conflict management, team dynamics, and strategic human resource management.

Interactive course study with I/O psychologists from industry and consulting, opportunities for research and engaging internships, and flexibility with scheduling and course curriculum provide you with a strong foundation for a successful career.

In addition to the M.A. degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology, students have the option to choose among three concentrations:

  • Industrial-Human Resources Psychology
  • Organizational Development and Consultation
  • Psychology of Conflict Management

A graduate certificate in psychology of conflict management is also available.

Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM)

The University of New Haven’s chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) focuses on building the professional skills of students who seek to gain experience in the fields of business and/or organizational development. The chapter hosts workshops, fundraisers, and speakers aimed at enhancing a student’s educational experience. The chapter includes students who are pursuing a master’s degree in business administration, industrial/organizational psychology, and other graduate programs. It is run by 13 student executive board members. SHRM is recognized in more than 165 countries, and it offers membership and certifications to help make students top candidates in their fields of choice.
