The University of New Haven was the third stop on Maria Maisonet’s college tour. She had been to campus before with her brother, Jonathan ’22, a criminal justice major, but this was the first time she started picturing herself becoming a Charger.
“After touring the University and meeting some of the terrific students and faculty, I was blown away,” she says. “This was the only campus I could really picture as my home for the next four years.”
Maisonet, who’ll pursue a communication major with a concentration in film production, is one of the first students to officially join the University’s Class of 2023, which will arrive on campus next fall.
“I am so excited to meet new people, have really great experiences I can look back on, and graduate being fully prepared for my career,” she says.
“I feel I am going to get a great education and get unique opportunities that other schools can’t offer.” Maria Maisonet
Her interest in film stems from a TV production class she took last year when she “fell in love with the field.”
“The University has beautiful facilities for media and a really great staff,” says Maisonet. “I feel I am going to get a great education and get unique opportunities that other schools can’t offer.”
She currently produces and edits a local talk show in her hometown of Westport, Conn.
“One day, I would love to get into the ‘big leagues’ of directing,” she says. “My ultimate dream is to create a story I am proud of that I can share with the world.”
