Guidelines for National Science Foundation Grants: UNH Hosting Workshop for Educators, Students and Business Collaborators

The University of New Haven (UNH) Tagliatela College of Engineering will host a workshop on acquiring grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) led by George Wilson, legislative analyst in the NSF Office of Legislative and Public Affairs. Educators, students in the STEM disciplines, and businesses interested in collaborations related to technology development and transfer are welcome to attend. The workshop will include: 

  • Introduction and overview of the various directorates within NSF
  • NSF proposal and merit review process
  • Cross-disciplinary and special interest programs
  • International programs
  • NSF funding priorities
  • Tips for writing a successful proposal
  • How the review process works and who gets funded
  • Q&A

The Schumann Auditorium in the Tagliatela College of Engineering, Room B120, UNH Main Campus, 300 Boston Post Road, West Haven, CT.


Part of the Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program, the workshop will provide an overview of the NSF, its mission, priorities and budget.  It will cover the NSF proposal and merit review process as well as NSF programs that cut across disciplines.
