Jiajuan (John) Liang, Ph.D. (Hong Kong Baptist University), is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing & Quantitative Analysis. He joined the University of New Haven in September, 2001 and was awarded as the UNH University Research Scholar (2010-2013 and 2013-2016). His teaching areas include Business Statistics and Business Mathematics for undergraduate business majors, and Probability and Statistics for MBA students. Dr. Liang's research interests mainly focus on general statistical methodologies and its applications in business, graphical statistical methods, dimension-reduction techniques in high-dimensional data analysis and its implications in large-scale capital asset pricing models in quantitative finance, and computer-aided teaching methods for quantitative courses for business majors.
He has published over 30 papers in peer-reviewed statistical journals, professional journals in business research and pedagogy, and book chapters by prestigious publishers. Among his joint papers, 1) the paper "Testing Multivariate Uniformity and Its Applications" was published in Mathematics of Computation (2001), the leading journal of American Mathematical Society and is ranked as the top journal in computational mathematics; 2) the paper "A New EM Algorithm for Fitting Two-Level Structural Equation Models" was published in Psychometrika (2004), the leading journal of Psychometric Society and is ranked as the top journal in mathematical and statistical psychology; 3) the paper "Some Necessary Tests for Spherical Symmetry" was published in The Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics (2008), the leading journal of the Japanese Statistical Society; 4) the book chapter "A Unified Approach to Two-level Structural Equation Models and Linear Mixed Effects Models" (2008) was published in Lecture Notes in Statistics of the prestigious Springer-Verlag, New York; and 5) the paper "A Multivariate Normal Plot to Detect Non-normality, Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics (2009), one of the leading journals of the American Statistical Association and is ranked as the top journal in graphical statistics. Up to the year 2012, Dr. Liang's research papers have been cited at least 237 times by peer-reviewed and professional journals listed in Google Scholar (http://scholar.google.com).
