President Steve Kaplan will be inducted into the Junior Achievement of Southwest New England’s Business Hall of Fame as part of the organization’s 33rd Annual Business Hall of Fame induction and dinner on Wednesday, May 1, at the New Haven Lawn Club. This prestigious honor recognizes “men and women who have made distinguished contributions to the prosperity of the region through leadership in business and the community.”
Kaplan will be inducted along with Andrew Eder, president and managing partner of Eder Bros., and Dacia Toll, co-CEO and president of Achievement First. Yale-New Haven Hospital will receive this year’s Community Award.
Junior Achievement is the global leader in providing cutting-edge, hands-on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness education for students. The organization’s mission is to empower young people to own their future economic success.
Phil Bartels, chair of the University’s Board of Governors, praised Kaplan for receiving the honor.
“President Kaplan has importantly led the development of the University of New Haven into one of finest schools in the region,” he said. “His strong commitment to preparing our students to lead purposeful lives is second to none. The campus community is indeed very fortunate to have a person of his caliber, expertise and energy as its president.”
