Remembering Virginia Tech: UNH Students to Take Part in National Lie-in

University of New Haven (UNH) will commemorate the anniversary of the Virginia Tech University tragedy by participating in a National Lie-In Campaign. The event at UNH will be one of more than fifty lie-ins across the country. In recalling the victims, demonstrators will lie down for three minutes, the typical length of time to purchase a gun in the United States. The event is designed to focus public attention on the issue of gun control and the need for a common-sense approach to addressing it. The event is sponsored by the Brady Campaign and ProtestEasyGuns.com and is free and open to the public.

As the nation's largest, non-partisan, grassroots organization leading the fight to prevent gun violence, the Brady Campaign, with its dedicated network of Million Mom March Chapters, works to enact and enforce sensible gun laws, regulations, and public policies. The Brady Campaign is devoted to creating an America free from gun violence, where all Americans are safe at home, at school, at work, and in our communities.

ProtestEasyGuns.com is a grassroots lie-in protest movement that emerged last year in response to the Virginia Tech shooting. Their goal is to bring attention to the issue of gun control and influence public discourse in relation to the issue.
