What:
University of New Haven (UNH) Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Crime Analysis, Christopher Sedelmaier will discuss victim-impact education programs in the prison setting. Victim impact programs are designed to educate offenders on the consequences of their actions and effects on themselves, the families, and the community. Topics will include a brief recent history of such programs, discussion of the goals of victim-impact education and the curricula used, and the results of recent research in the area. The event is free and open to the public.

Details:
Dr. Sedelmaier is an assistant professor of criminal justice at the University of New Haven. He received his B.A. from The College of New Jersey in 1996 and his M.A from Rutgers University in 1999. Sedelmaier joined UNH after completing a Ph.D. in criminal justice at Rutgers University in 2003. Since arriving at UNH, he has been involved in several research projects with state and local criminal justice agencies. His primary research interests include crime prevention and crime analysis.
