What: The College of Business at the University of New Haven (UNH) presents a College of Business Research Forum lecture featuring Dr. John Liang and Dr. Linda Martin, professors in the Department of Management at UNH. Liang and Martin will illustrate how to use Excel to enhance students' understanding of calculus-based mathematical principles and find numerical solutions to complex quantitative business problems by providing heuristic business examples. Details: Liang is an associate professor of quantitative analysis in the Department of Management at UNH. He also serves as a reviewer for the top refereed journal, Psychometrika, and reviews for several Scientific Citation Index (SCI) journals such as, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Statistica Sinica, Computational Statistics & Data Analysis and Biometrical Journal. Liang's work has appeared or been accepted for publication in numerous journals including Mathematics of Computation (2001), Journal of Statistical Planning & Inference, Biometrical Journal, Computational Statistics & Data Analysis, Statistics & Probability Letters, Statistic and The Canadian Journal of Statistics. He was also invited to be an item contributor for Encyclopedia of Statistical Sciences in 1999. He completed his undergraduate degree in mathematics at Nankai University, China, received his Ph.D. in statistics from Hong Kong Baptist University and completed his postdoctoral study at the Center for Drug Abuse and Applied Statistics at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). He also worked as a part-time lecturer in the department of statistics at UCLA.
