The Department of Health Sciences was created in 2016 as a collaborative, University-wide department that supports health-related programs, including:

The Department consists of more than 25 faculty from across the University.

Welcome to the Department of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven. Our department has a wide range of programs and opportunities to prepare you for the health sciences career you want. Our programs are unique among other Colleges and Departments in the region because:

  • We have programs that are accredited with the highest standards in the fields of Dental Hygiene, Nutrition and Dietetics, Healthcare Administration and more. We have internationally recognized faculty who conduct student-focused research, teach engaging and up to the minute courses, and who support students as academic advisors and mentors.
  • We focus on hands-on learning in all of our health science programs. Every major requires an internship, capstone course or both in order to graduate ensuring you have the real-world experience you need to compete in the 21st century healthcare workforce.
  • We are located just 5 minutes away by car from the largest health system in the state of Connecticut and the Veterans Administration Medical Center is walking distance from our campus giving you unparalleled access to healthcare facilities and preceptors.
  • We have faculty and alumni who work in every major health system in the state of Connecticut as well as multiple hospitals and health systems in Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey.
