Powered by Philanthropy
The new building is supported by a transformational $10 million donation from alumnus and successful business executive Dennis Martin '81 and his wife, Barbara, enabling the University to transition its Pompea College of Business back to its main campus in West Haven from its campus in nearby Orange.
The project also reflects the extraordinary generosity and leadership of Charlie and Tamera Pompea. Charlie Pompea '71, '90 EMBA, '06 Hon., former Chairman of the University of New Haven Board of Governors, and Tamera have been among the university's most significant philanthropic partners. Their landmark support led to the naming of the Pompea College of Business, helping to elevate business education and create transformative opportunities for generations of students.
Another extraordinary aspect of this project is that it has been realized through the collective generosity of many visionary donors whose support has helped advance a $45 million capital campaign to bring this transformational building to life.

Leveraging His Success for Others - About Visionary Donor Dennis Martin ’81
As a youngster, Dennis Martin '81 and his siblings would gather with their parents for their evening meal. The family would sit down at the dining room table and "talk about how we were going to get an education and how we were going to make a difference." Fast-forward to 2025, and not only did Martin get that education - completing his degree at the University of New Haven 13 years after he'd started at another institution, gotten married, had three children, and begun and amazing career - but he is making a difference in the lives of thousands of current and future students through thoughtful consideration of how to leverage his success for others.Read Full Story
Watch Your Giving Work - The Namesake of the Business College
Even Inspector Jacques Clouseau would have an easy time finding the fingerprints of Charles E. Pompea '71, '90 EMBA, '06 Hon., all across the University of New Haven campus. There's the obvious - the Pompea College of Business, named in honor of Pompea, his wife, Tamera, and his family... Then there's the less obvious but impactful giving that continues to benefit generations of U New Haven students.
"Why not help people when you can, when you can watch your giving work for people, rather than waiting until you pass?" he asks. "There is great gratification in seeing your wealth helping someone out."

Our New Home at the Gateway to Campus
Designed to mirror the environments students will encounter in today's leading organizations, the facility will feature cutting-edge learning spaces, collaborative hubs, and immersive technologies that bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. From AI-powered analytics and financial trading to executive presentations, sales competitions, and entrepreneurial pitch events, every aspect of the building is intended to inspire bold ideas, meaningful connections, and better than ready graduates.
Designed to meet LEED Gold certification standards and with accessibility in mind, our new home will welcome the next generation of business leaders - both figuratively, and literally. Its placement at the southeastern entrance to campus makes it the first building many Chargers and visitors will see as they approach from I-95, and has the added benefit of creating a new campus quad with neighboring South Campus Hall and Harugari Hall.

Prominently located at the main entrance to campus, this landmark building will serve as both a welcoming gateway and a bold statement about the future of business education.
Its striking architectural design—including live market tickers in our AI, Business Analytics & Financial Trading Room and a dramatic four-story vertical ticker rising through the grand staircase—will be a beacon that symbolizes the constant movement of global markets and the dynamic, technology-driven environment that defines the Pompea College of Business.
