Michael Ambrose '84, '19 Hon
Michael H. Ambrose is Vice President of Engineering & Technology at Sikorsky Aircraft, Lockheed Martin Corporation.
A 37-year Sikorsky employee, Mr. Ambrose started his career in design engineering and has served roles ranging from general manager of one of Sikorsky's product centers to vice president of international government programs. He has earned two patents while at Sikorsky. Mr. Ambrose has also served as an independent member on the RBC Bearings board of directors since 2019.
Elected to the University of New Haven's Board of Governors in January 2015, Mr. Ambrose currently serves as vice chair. He served as president of the board of directors of the University of New Haven's Alumni Association from 2012-2014 and was a member from 2006 to 2014. Mr. Ambrose also serves on the Sikorsky Archives board of directors.
Mr. Ambrose earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New Haven. He was a standout member of the track and field team and still owns seven university track records. He was inducted in the University of New Haven Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991. He went on to earn a master's degree in engineering management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The University of New Haven awarded him an honorary Doctor of Engineering in 2019.
Mr. Ambrose and his wife, Diana, have two children, Sarah and Adrian, who are both graduates of the University of New Haven. Mr. Ambrose also is an accomplished poet and his work has been published in 35 publications.
