Once a Charger, Always a Charger!
The year 2020 was an extraordinary Centennial year for the University of New Haven. While it unfolded differently than expected, as it did for so many people, we still made time to come together virtually to celebrate the rich history that makes the University the special place it is today. And through the generosity of thousands of alumni and friends, we successfully closed the first-ever comprehensive campaign in University history, the Charger Challenge, which raised over $135M against our original goal of $100M.

Since the public launch of the Charger Challenge in 2016, we have raised more than $167 million, far exceeding our goal of raising $100 million in honor of our Centennial year.

The institute, which will be part of the Tagliatela College of Engineering, will foster collaboration and interdisciplinary research across the University, effectively incorporating critical knowledge in cybersecurity, computing, data science, and AI across all programs.

Prominent Alumnus, Outgoing Board Chair Gifts $1 Million to the University of New Haven
William Bucknall ’63, ’65, ’08 Hon., a member of the University’s Board of Governors since 2006 and one of the University’s most devoted benefactors, contributed $1 million to support student scholarships, undergraduate research, and excellence in teaching.

A spectacular monument years in the making the University of New Haven's new Charger Statue was officially installed in late March 2020. Funded through gracious donations specific for this initiative, the Charger Statute was conceived to serve as a symbol of the power, resilience, and enduring strength of the University community.
