Lisa Murray, the global chief marketing officer and executive vice president of Octagon, a worldwide leader in sports and entertainment marketing, will serve as an executive in residence in the University of New Haven’s sport management program for the 2017-18 academic year.
Murray oversees all marketing and communications initiatives for the Octagon brand. She partners with many of firm’s longstanding corporate clients, including Allstate, Cisco and Johnson & Johnson, leveraging her expertise across the largest global sports events, including the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup.
Throughout her 28 years at Octagon, Murray has been recognized for her impact on the industry. This year, she was named one of Adweek’s “Most Powerful Women in Sports.”
“Landing an A-list client like Mastercard is a feat in itself, but keeping the financial services company in the fold for more than two decades, building its sponsorships and experiential marketing programs around the world, is next-level customer care – exactly the type that Murray specializes in at Octagon,” wrote Adweek.
Last year, she was named a “Woman of Inspiration” by WISE NY. She was previously named to the Sporting News’ annual “Power 100” list. She also was recognized by the Sports Business Journal as one of the top 20 “Most Influential Women in the Industry” and was named in its inaugural group of “Game Changers.”
As part of the sport management department’s executive in residence program, which was established 25 years ago, Murray will visit campus several times through the year.
“This is an incredible opportunity for students, alumni, and faculty to network and learn from a recognized industry expert,” said College of Business dean Brian Kench.
