Prospective Interns for the Dietetic Internship

The Dietetic Internship is a full time, 10 month (42 week- September- June) community nutrition oriented program, with interns in rotation for 5 days per week, generally Monday through Friday. Interns are expected to work some weekends and holidays according to the needs of their assigned rotation.  A minimum of 1,200 hours of supervised practice are required and includes acute clinical, long term, retail/food services management, child/adolescent education and community rotation sites. Human Nutrition Internship Seminar courses will be taught during the 10 months.

Additional Information:
  • The DI program is affiliated with many supervised practicum facilities throughout the state of Connecticut
  • Dietetic interns are required to have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and have their own reliable transportation
  • Dietetic interns receive nine graduate credits toward a Master of Healthcare Administration, Master of Public Health, or Master of Business Administration at the University of New Haven
  • Program outcomes data is available upon request
  • Graduation and program completion requirements: All interns must receive a 4 or 5 rotation evaluation rating from their preceptors demonstrating competency to progress through the program. For further details, see the Program Handbook
