Jessica Kizzire is a musicologist who studies music in popular media, including film and video games. Her chapter "'The Place I'll Return to Someday': Musical Nostalgia in Final Fantasy IX" appeared in Music in Video Games: Studying Play (Routledge, 2014) and studied the use of Baroque musical styles as a vehicle for player nostalgia in the game. Her most recent research explores the interrelation of multiple villains' themes across several games in the Final Fantasy franchise. In addition, Jessica's scholarly work examines the role of music in multimedia adaptations, and she is currently working on her first book, which analyzes the narrative implications of musical adaptations of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
