Carrie brings over a decade of progressive work experience and strategic leadership in student affairs in higher education to the University, including her most recent position as director of LGBTQ+ Life in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Trinity College in Hartford. Prior to joining Trinity College, she was the associate director of the Office of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at Fairfield University, where she also served as area coordinator for the Service for Justice Residential College program, in partnership with the division of academic affairs.
With an extensive background in residential life and student diversity work, Carrie has provided vision and strategic direction guided by an inclusive philosophy and student-centered approach through engagement, advocacy, and support in her earlier work. She has launched initiatives in support of marginalized, LGBTQ+, and first generation students and that address racial and social justice issues.
She facilitated numerous workshops and training programs on diversity and inclusion, has developed strategies and programs that promote inclusion and ensure equity and access for multiple campus constituents. In addition, Carrie has sponsored and facilitated social and educational programs focused on cross-culturalism and intersectionality to address students' multiple layers of identity and conducted yearly multicultural retreats to help students discover a sense of belonging while developing their own identities.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Eastern Connecticut State University, Carrie earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling in Student Development and Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University.
