Spring 2021 Commencement COVID-19 Testing or Vaccination Requirements and Ticket Details

In order to facilitate the smoothest possible Commencement experience for all, it is imperative that you read the following information carefully. Specific instructions are provided for both students and guests.

General Health and Safety Regulations
  • Please note that NO participating student or guest will be allowed to enter the Commencement facility without providing proof of any one of the following: full COVID-19 vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test, or infection in the preceding 90 days, as outlined on this page.
  • Any individual who has been ordered to quarantine or isolate by their local government or the University and is still in quarantine or isolation on Monday, May 17, may not attend Commencement. Your quarantine or isolation period must end by Sunday, May 16, and you must be symptom-free for the final 24 hours of your quarantine or isolation to attend.

 

COVID-19 Testing or Vaccination Requirements for Graduates and Guests

In order to access tickets for Commencement, all participating graduates and their guests will be required to show proof of any one of the following (click the + symbol to expand the information) :

  • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination on or Before May 2
    • Individuals who have received their final vaccine injection on or before May 2 may submit their vaccine record in lieu of a test result.
    • Please note: Fully vaccinated is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as individuals who are at least 14 days past receiving the 2nd dose in a 2-dose series (Moderna, Pfizer), or 14 days after receiving a 1-dose vaccine (J&J).
    • Individuals who do not receive their final vaccine dose on or before Sunday, May 2, will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test administered in the timeframes listed on this page in order to access tickets.
  • Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test
    • Unvaccinated individuals must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test. PCR or Antigen tests are acceptable.
    • Graduates must provide a test result from on or after May 14.
    • Guests must provide a test result from on or after May 12.
    • To avoid infection, graduates and guests are strongly encouraged to limit their interaction with others, to the best of their ability, during the time between their test and Commencement Day.
    • Individuals who test positive on or after May 7, 2021, will still be in their 10-day isolation period on the day of Commencement, and cannot attend the ceremonies.
  • Proof of COVID-19 Infection in the Preceding 90 Days
    • Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 between February 16, 2021 and May 6, 2021, should not take a COVID-19 test. Instead, they should submit proof of their positive test result.
    • Individuals who test positive on or after May 7, 2021, will still be in their 10-day isolation period on the day of Commencement, and cannot attend the ceremonies.

Submitting Test Results and Vaccination Records

Please follow the applicable instructions listed below. Submissions will be reviewed as they are received. Please allow 24 hours for your submission to be reviewed before inquiring about your submission.

  • Submitting a TEST result for graduates and guests

    All on-campus test results taken between May 14 and 16 will be automatically added to CoVerified when received from the lab. You should NOT submit test results taken on campus during that time.

    All off-campus test results should be submitted to CoVerified. Students must submit records for their guests.

    Off-campus tests must be administered between May 12 and 17 (guests) or between May 14 and 17 (students). Note that test result uploads must be done in the CoVerified app. Tests cannot be uploaded through the website. Antigen or PCR tests are acceptable.

    To submit test results into CoVerified from off-campus testing sources, please do the following:

    • In the CoVerified app, choose "Report" and then choose "Upload Test Result" (see screenshot)
    • A separate upload must be completed for each individual.
    • For GUESTS ONLY, please submit it as an INCONCLUSIVE test result.
    • Screenshot or PDF uploads of test results are accepted. Please see these examples: MyChart App, MyChart Mobile Website, MyChart PDF Download, CVS PDF Download. If you tested with another provider, please provide equivalent uploads.
    • Test result uploads MUST include Patient Name, Type of Test Taken, Date of Test Taken, Test Result.
    • The test administered date you enter must match the test collection date on your test results. Enter the date the test was conducted/the sample was collected, matching what is on your test results.

    Test results without the requisite information will be rejected and may cause a delay in clearance to walk in the Commencement ceremony and/or release of tickets.

    When test results are accepted, you will not receive an email or notification. You can see the test result by going to Testing > Clipboard (upper right side) in the CoVerified app.

  • Submitting a VACCINATION record for a graduating student:

    Please Note: The instructions for vaccine uploads are different for students and guests. Please read the appropriate part of this page.

    Fully vaccinated students, as defined by the CDC (14 days after administration of the final dose), should submit their vaccine records to CoVerified. Note that vaccine record uploads must be done in the CoVerified app and cannot be uploaded through the website. Email submissions will not be accepted.

    Any graduating student who has NOT received the final dose of vaccination on or before Sunday, May 2, will not be fully vaccinated before Commencement Day, and will not have their record reviewed. You must submit a test result instead.

    All records must be manually reviewed and should be submitted as soon as possible to expedite this process. You do not have to wait until 14 days have elapsed following your final dose to submit the record if your final dose was received by Sunday, May 2.

    To submit vaccine records into CoVerified, please do the following:

    • In the CoVerified app, choose "Report" and then choose "Upload Vaccine Record" (see screenshot)
    • Screenshot or PDF uploads of vaccine records are accepted.
    • Vaccine uploads MUST be legible and include Patient Name, Type of Vaccine, and Date of Vaccination.
    • The vaccine administered date you enter must match the FINAL injection date on your record.

    Vaccine submissions without the requisite information or outside the allowed timeframe (on or prior to May 2, 2021) will be rejected, and may cause a delay in clearance to walk in the commencement ceremony and/or release of tickets.

    When vaccine records are accepted, you will not receive an email or notification. You can see the vaccine record by going to Report > Folder (upper right side) in the CoVerified app.

  • Submitting a VACCINATION record for invited guest(s):

    Please Note: The instructions for vaccine uploads are different for students and guests. Please read the appropriate part of this page.

    Fully vaccinated guests, as defined by the CDC (14 days after administration of the final dose), will be allowed to attend Commencement without providing a COVID-19 test. The graduating student should submit their guests’ vaccine records to CoVerified. Note that vaccine record uploads must be done in the CoVerified app and cannot be uploaded through the website. Email submissions will not be accepted.

    Any guest who has NOT received the final dose of vaccination on or before Sunday, May 2, will not be fully vaccinated before Commencement Day, and will not have their record reviewed. They must submit a test result instead.

    • Screenshot or PDF uploads of vaccine records are accepted.
    • Vaccine uploads MUST be legible and include Patient Name, Type of Vaccine, and Date of Vaccination.
    • The test administered date you enter must match the FINAL injection date on your vaccine record.

    Vaccine submissions without the requisite information or outside the allowed timeframe (on or prior to May 2, 2021) will be rejected, and may cause a delay in release of tickets.

    When guest vaccine records are accepted, you will not receive an email or notification. You can see the vaccine record by going to Testing > Clipboard (upper right side) in the CoVerified app.

    Ticket Information
    • Graduating Student Ticket Requirements
      • All graduating students taking part in Commencement must meet the health and safety requirements listed on this page. Please read those requirements carefully.
      • All graduating students taking part in Commencement will be issued a "student ticket." This ticket must be presented in order to enter the facility, and cannot be reissued. Only graduates can enter on a student ticket. Note that this is in addition to the GRADPASS, which must be printed.
      • After approval of the student's COVID-19 documentation, student tickets will be distributed. Student ticket distribution for those who have submitted the proper documentation will begin taking place the week of May 10. Please see the section of this page called "Ticket Distribution" for more information and the distribution schedule.
    • Guest Ticket Requirements
      • All invited guests must meet the health and safety requirements listed on this page. Please read those requirements carefully.
      • All guests over the age of 2 require a guest ticket and must sit in their assigned seat. Guests under age 2 do not require a ticket, but will NOT be allocated an assigned seat, and must sit in an adult’s lap.
      • Each student participating in Spring 2021 Commencement can allocate a maximum of two (2) guest tickets. No additional tickets will be made available. Tickets are non-transferable between graduates and are linked to each guest's COVID-19 documentation.
      • To allocate tickets to their guests, each graduating student must have provided guest name(s) via MarchingOrder. Please note no changes to guest names can be made after May 6.
      • After approval of the guest's COVID-19 documentation, guest tickets will be distributed. Guest ticket distribution for those who have submitted the proper documentation will begin taking place the week of May 10. Please see the section of this page called "Ticket Distribution" for more information and the distribution schedule.
      • Please note that student tickets for graduates cannot be used as a method of entry for guests, and are subject to confiscation.
    • Ticket Distribution

      As a reminder, student and guest tickets will only be released after providing proof of either:

      • Being fully vaccinated (last dose received on or before May 2).
      • A negative COVID-19 test. Tests for graduates must be taken on or after May 14, and tests for guests must be taken on or after May 12.
      • A positive test on or after Feb. 16, 2021. (Please note that anyone who tests positive on or after May 7 will not be able to attend the ceremonies.)

      On-Campus Ticket Pick Up Opportunities

      For both of the following on-campus ticket pick-up options, please note that vaccine and/or testing documentation WILL NOT be reviewed or accepted in person. All documentation must be uploaded and accepted in CoVerified in order to get tickets.

      Students must have a photo ID in order to pick up tickets during the following times:

      • Monday, May 10: 12-4 p.m.
      • Tuesday, May 11: 12-6 p.m.
      • Wednesday, May 12: 12-6 p.m.
      • Friday, May 14: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
      • Saturday, May 15: 12-6 p.m.
      • Sunday, May 16: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

      For all of the times listed above, tickets can be picked up in the office building adjacent to the entrance of Subway across the street from the University’s main entrance on Boston Post Road, provided all required testing/vaccination documentation has been submitted and accepted in CoVerified.

      For individuals registered for a COVID-19 test on campus in the Beckerman Recreation Center between May 14-16, you (and your guest(s) getting tested) will be given ticket(s) after a negative result is received.

      We strongly advise you, whenever possible, to pick up your tickets on campus as opposed to at the venue on Commencement Day (details below) to avoid any potential delay in getting into the facility.

      Commencement Day Ticket Pick Up

      Graduates and guests who are cleared to receive tickets can pick up their tickets at the Box Office at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport during the following times on Monday, May 17:

      • Morning ceremony: 9-11:30 a.m. (Box office closes promptly at 11:30 a.m.)
      • Afternoon ceremony: 1:30-4:30 p.m. (Box office closes promptly at 4:30 p.m.)

      Guests picking up tickets at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater must show photo ID to receive their tickets.
