Important Information and Updates
Expecting a Refund?

Refunds for the Spring 2023 semester will start to be processed the week of January 30 after the Spring add/drop period ends and anticipated financial aid has officially disbursed.

Student Refunds: Starting January 25, students can request a refund by completing the Refund Request Form found under the Refunds tab in ePay. Students are strongly encouraged to enroll in direct deposit. Click here for instructions on how to enroll.

Refunds Due to Federal Parent Plus Loan: Refunds will be mailed to the borrower’s address as listed on their PLUS Loan application. Direct deposit for PLUS Loan refunds is currently not available. Refunds will be issued to the student only if a parent requests it on the PLUS application.

2023-2024 Room Selection Reminder

Do you plan to reside in university housing for the 2023-2024 academic year? As a reminder, your student account must be in good financial standing before submitting your room deposit. Any continuing student interested in participating in the Room Selection Process must complete the following steps by March 3, 2023:

  1. Submit a $500 room deposit in ePay. (Please be advised, the room deposit is non-refundable/non-transferrable.)
  2. Complete the 2023-2024 Continuing Student Housing Application in the myHousing portal.

Students will not have access to the housing application without first submitting their housing deposit.

If you plan on participating in the 2023-2024 Room Selection Process and have an unpaid balance on your student account, we advise you to visit our Spring 2023 Billing, Tuition, and Financial Information webpage to review your payment options. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions regarding resolving your balance.

Financial Aid Office Reminders

Have you filed your 2023-2024 FAFSA? Although the priority filing deadline was January 1, 2023, it is not too late to file your FAFSA for the 2023-2024 academic year. Apply today at studentaid.gov.

Students who have already filed a 2023-2024 FAFSA and were selected for verification must submit their documents to the Financial Aid Office by March 1, 2023. Late submission of additional documentation may delay the processing and disbursing of your financial aid. Students can login to the My Financial Aid system to review the status of their financial aid file.

2022 IRS Form 1098-T

IRS Form 1098-T is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tuition statement which is intended to help students file their federal income tax return. Form 1098-T details the qualified payments that are applied to a student’s account within a specific calendar year. Please note that this is based on when the transaction is posted to the account, not according to the term the activity is related to.

The University of New Haven is required by the IRS to furnish eligible students with tax form 1098-T each calendar year. Form 1098-T will be made available to students in ePay and SSB (Self-Service Banner) by January 31, as required by law.

  • The information on the 1098-T is only informational.
  • You must rely on your receipts to determine payment amounts and potential eligibility for a tax credit.
  • No University of New Haven employee may give tax advice regarding the American Opportunity Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit. If you are unsure about your eligibility or have any tax preparation questions, you should consult with a qualified tax preparer or advisor. You can also consult IRS Publication 990 or visit the IRS website.
  • Please note that the release of 1098-T information is governed by federal privacy laws (FERPA) and cannot be released to parents or tax preparers without the authorization of the student.
