APPLICATION PROCESS FOR PART-TIME, ACCELERATED AND VISITING/NON-DEGREE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
The University of New Haven has a rolling admissions process which means that we do not have specific deadlines. Applications are accepted up until the start of the specific academic term, however we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible to allow time for processing.
DEGREE SEEKING STUDENTS:
- All new degree seeking students must submit an online application for admission. You must be certain to click the “Submit Application” button at the end of the application. Please be advised that there is no application fee for completing this application.
- Submit official transcripts from all the colleges/universities that you have attended. Have them sent them directly to University College (CAPS). Upon receipt of your transcripts you will receive an academic worksheet for your intended major with a preliminary transfer credit evaluation (TCE). The TCE will outline how many transfer credits you can be awarded and will detail what courses at your previous college(s) will be accepted as transfer credit for UNH courses required for your major. Transcripts should be sent to: University of New Haven, c/o University College (CAPS), Echlin Hall, 300 Boston Post Road, West Haven, CT 06516.
- Submit an official copy of your secondary/high school transcript to University College if you have completed less than 24 credits at another college or university. A satisfactory General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is acceptable in place of a high school diploma. Transcripts should be sent to: University of New Haven, c/o University College (CAPS), Echlin Hall, 300 Boston Post Road, West Haven, CT 06516.
- SAT or ACT scores may be requested if the applicant has graduated from high school within 12 months of filing the admission application.
- The university recognizes both the College Entrance Examination Board's Advanced Placement Program (AP) and the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). Credit may be granted for AP grades of 3, 4 or 5; credit may be granted for CLEP passing percentile scores of 50 or better. Credit will be evaluated by the appropriate department chair. For further information or to have your scores sent to UNH, go to www.collegeboard.com and search for AP or CLEP.
- Once your application has been received and processed, you will receive a letter from University College. Information and instructions about registration will be included in the acceptance packet for students who have been accepted to the university.
- Under separate cover you will also receive a letter from the Information Services Office and an email from matrixstudentsupport@newhaven.edu. The letter and email will contain your User ID and Password and will give you access to the Matrix Student Information System for on-line course registration and on-line bill payment as well as access to your UNH email and the Blackboard Learning System. Further details and information will be included in the letter/email.

You must be certain to click the “Submit Application” button at the end of the application.
