It’s an offbeat venue for students, who can take a break from textbooks to relax and check out any one of thousands of books or magazines.

Owner Bill Barr, who is active in groups that promote downtown West Haven, has been in business in West Haven since 1941. His store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. most weekdays. Weekends are open by appointment or chance.
