Get Your Free UNH License Plate
(Continued from UNH Today home page.)
Dear Colleagues,
I write to you today not only as a fellow UNH employee, but also a proud 2006 alumnus of the University of New Haven. Recently, we were all given the opportunity to receive a free Connecticut license plate featuring the University of New Haven, allowing us to display our UNH pride on our vehicles. If you’re like me, you probably drive throughout the state and across New England (and maybe further), giving us a unique means of advertising UNH throughout the region.
With the impending economic crisis facing the university and the nation at this time, it is becoming increasingly important for us to have positive and plentiful outward visibility to prospective students, their families, fellow alumni, donors, and the community at large. The cost of marketing the institution through not only advertising media, but also growing a presence on the web and sending admissions representatives like me to college fairs across the region and the country is growing substantially, making any attempts to grow these efforts virtually impossible with budget constraints. We all want to see the University of New Haven grow in numbers and stature, but without substantial, low-cost marketing efforts, building the “UNH brand” on a regional or national scale is extremely difficult.
Through the generosity of Board of Governors member Phil Bartels, we are able to obtain 400 license plates sporting the UNH logo at no cost to faculty, staff, and alumni. As of the last I heard, we are still more than 100 short of that mark. The State of Connecticut will only issue the plates if we place the initial order of 400. Besides UCONN and the University of Hartford, we would become the only other Connecticut institution to have a special license plate.
We have a truly unique opportunity to promote the university as both a sense of pride and a means of advertising the institution to members of surrounding communities. I sincerely urge you to fill out an application and obtain a UNH license plate at no cost to you. The university, its students, and its employees stand to reap many positive benefits from having these plates in the future. I sincerely appreciate your consideration.
All the Best,
Marcus Hanscom
