Bakers: Here’s Your Chance
To Strut Your Strudel and Win a Prize!!

The Dirt on Dessert:
Bring your dessert the morning of Thursday, Dec. 18 to the main dining hall in Bartels so the food service folks may distribute a piece of it to the judging panel, and get the rest ready to serve at the party. The judges include two professional chefs – one of whom is a pastry chef – and the Catering staff. Then come to the Faculty/Staff Holiday Party in the Alumni Lounge at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 and we’ll have a contest to determine the best in several categories. After the judging, we’ll eat the entries! This is a chance for the holiday bakers on campus to bask in a bit of culinary glory, and for the confection connoisseurs among us to satisfy our sweet tooth. Happy baking!
NOTE: Bakers are asked to RSVP to Jzamparo@newhaven.edu. Questions? Call Jill at ext. 7426. Also, on party day, please list your name and email address on a 3-by-5 index card, along with the name of your dessert and a brief description of it, and attach it to your contest entry. If you decide you’d like to bake but would rather avoid entering the contest, we will be delighted to accept your creations anonymously!
Baking Categories:
– Creatively Decorated Cookies
– Traditional Cookies (your great-grandfather’s German Lebkuchen, your Aunt Lucia’s Swedish spritz cookies, American chocolate chips and/or oatmeal-raisin cookies etc.)
– Pies and Cakes including cupcakes, fruitcakes, pound, bundt, etc.
– Desserts That Don’t Easily Fit into the Aforementioned Categories: fudge, mousse, brownies, flan etc.
